CLARE HANSSON AND FRIENDS

Brisbane-based pianist, Clare Hansson, does not receive the exposure she deserves in Sydney and this Jazz Action Society Concert went some way to redress the situation.  Clare established her credentials right from the start with a solo performance of two of Bix Beiderbecke’s classic piano pieces, In A Mist and In The Dark.  These pieces are challenging to any pianist, with their intricate phrasings, at times delicate, at times swinging and Clare demonstrated her complete mastery of them.  You don’t put this lady in a little stylistic box; she does them all.
